Aloha Kakou,
It’s hurricane season in Hawaii, and we were lucky to dodge Hurricane Lane, which got down graded to a tropical storm by the time it passed Oahu. Prepping for Lane prompted a friend to suggest that we offer hurricane food supplies! Agreed! With the addition of our new vacuum pump being installed in late September, we anticipate offering hurricane foods – i.e., foods that are freeze-dried or dehydrated in October. Drop us a note on what you’d like to see in the offerings. Thanks!
Hurricanes are a serious peril. FEMA and Hawaii State and County agencies appeared to have been as prepared as can be. After Lane passed, we took a drone flight after over KCS to analyze our own situation, which we thought might be interesting to show here:

Aloha Kakou,
Love hearing comments on our products. Here’s an unsolicited note concerning our ‘awa mahakea:
“Just want to say mahalo for sharing your Mahakea ‘opio with us. It got rave reviews for flavour and balanced strength. It gave a few who had tried awa in other Pacific Islands a new outlook on how ono awa can be. They felt the effects which came on subtley yet steadily. Look forward to catching up over an apu or two when I return. Ahui hou!” MS, 8/24/18.

Aloha Kakou,
Fresh, shredded ‘awa mahakea in frozen one (1) pound pouches are now available in our freezers. This ‘awa was approximately 18 months of age when harvested. We call it the Celebrity Plant as many visitors posed and took photos with it here at the Kahalu’u Country Store.

Quantities are limited. Please contact us if you’re interested in ‘awa or Raw Kiawe Honey. Thanks!
